In Longreach we stayed at a very busy caravan park. No grass in sight which is common for much of this part of Australia! The first night we were there we were very lucky to be approached by a pair of brolgas. I was fascinated. They weren’t shy and were obviously hoping for a handout. All the birthdays in our family fall in the second half of the year. The first three birthdays are weeks apart. TurboBug was up first, turning two. We were on the Sunshine Coast for his birthday. There are some great signs along the road in Queensland. Not sure where they think we’re headed! There can definitely be a lot of time between towns. On the way to Mulambin we made a quick stop in the town 1770. I’ve always been curious about the town but it has always been soooo far away on the map. But suddenly we were nearby! We decided to stop in for a quick look. The town is called 1770 after the year that Captain Cook landed there. It was the first place he landed in Queensland. It turned out to be a holiday spot.
